Oddly, my brain went to one of the worst Sutherland movies of all time but he was great as the old man in Puppetmasters.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
He was a shitty Watcher, though.
We saw Thor yesterday. I will admit, I didn't think I'd be that interested. But awww! All of the "modern day" scenes were utterly charming, and the guy playing Thor was perfect. He has a GREAT smile.
(I didn't think I'd be interested in the movie because I am not a Marvel fan. I have only the vaguest knowledge of canon. I have been known to spend many superhero movies thinking "Hmmmph. Okay, I guess, but you're no Batman." )
I'm pleased with the casting of President Snow. I'm with Laga.
I pictured someone a little smoother, a little tighter and more polished, and Sutherland is sort of a jowly old dog. But I love the casting anyway, because I think he can play Snow's creepy evil really well.
Ugh, and that mouth.
Amy,
yeah, Laura Palmer's father probably would have been a good choice, but I like Sutherland too.
Oh yeah, I forgot all about him.
Ian Richardson would have been good.
Laura Palmer's father
I can't see Ray Wise in anything without saying "hey, it's the devil, Laura Palmer's dad!" but he would have been a good choice too. He's much closer to the book description of Snow but Sutherland will bring the creepy too.
