A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I was thinking, if a 10-year-old can win Best Supporting, there's no reason someone of the same age couldn't be nominated for (and win) Best.
I guess Keisha's lucky Jeff Bridges wasn't in Whale Rider.
I hope Melissa Leo gets her statue this year. (Although I'm totally behind on all the movies, per usual)

From what I heard on NPR this morning, the Coens were pushing for Hailee to get a nom for supporting so she'd have a chance of winning. I guess they thought an unknown kid wouldn't win for Best Actress.
I want her to win SO much.
Oh my god, seriously. I haven't seen any of the other movies that the other supporting actress noms are in, so I don't know what the competition is like but -- she was outfuckingstanding. Amazing. So much so that I was a little disappointed by the actress who played the adult at the end.
Yeah, me too. It seemed like she would have grown up to be more exciting than that. Not that we got to see a lot of the adult version, but still.
