Pretty cool except for the part where I was really terrified and now my knees are all dizzy.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I want her to win SO much.

Oh my god, seriously. I haven't seen any of the other movies that the other supporting actress noms are in, so I don't know what the competition is like but -- she was outfuckingstanding. Amazing. So much so that I was a little disappointed by the actress who played the adult at the end.

Yeah, me too. It seemed like she would have grown up to be more exciting than that. Not that we got to see a lot of the adult version, but still.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

ITA. I liked the movie so much I hadn't thought much about why I found the final scene so disappointing. I know part of it was no Annie Oakley or Buffalo Bill cameos.

Since I hadn't seen the first one, and hadn't read the book, I was desperately hoping that she wouldn't end up marrying Matt Damon a few years down the road, and thrilled when she didn't.

In the original, the Texas Ranger died. Didn't that happen in the new one?

I thought he just sort of...wandered off. Maybe he did die. I assumed he survived.

I was thinking, if a 10-year-old can win Best Supporting, there's no reason someone of the same age couldn't be nominated for (and win) Best.

I doubt there are many Oscar-quality movies out there that give the lead role to someone that young in the first place, though.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

There are a lot of reasons which have nothing to do with the quality of the performance and a lot to do with the politics of Oscar voting.
