Aha - I hadn't remembered the book in that much detail, but that makes much more sense than the way it worked out in the movie.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I'm re-reading from 'Order of the Phoenix' onwards. I want to work out what other little details they've mucked up in the films (apart from just leaving things out). I did want more of the Dursleys' conclusion, and I hope they revisit it. I also want Fred and George's broadcasts, and I'm not sure we're going to get either.
That said, I'm very forgiving, and really enjoyed this one. It seems to be quite a task, making decent movies from books that long. See also 'The Time Traveller's Wife', which irritated me a lot more than the Harry Potter films do.
Big tag fail edit.
imo, Talladega Nights is skippable but Blades of Glory is not.
Stranger Than Fiction was good.
I'm not a Farrell fan at all, and avoided STF until my love of Emma Thompson prevailed.
I ended up loving every minute of it...including one of the very most romantic moments I've ever seen on film.
So sweet.
Also, we saw a preview for a goddamn Justin Bieber movie. Ack!
We got this trailer also. I'm of two minds about Bieber - I don't like his music, and promoting him by showing hordes of crying girl fans makes me hate him. But he's got the actual musical chops, and is something of a prodigy.
In a lot of ways, he's Mozart. He may die in his 20s, and then we'll know.
I love Talledega Nights and hated Blades of Glory. It may have to do with living in NASCAR country. Plus, Jane Lynch as the grandma and the two kids are absolutely hilarious.

The Boy and I both initially thought it was a movie about Justin Timberlake. And then I realized that that just points out how old we are, because Justin Timberlake's moment has LONG since passed.

Dude, he's hot shit right now. One of People's sexiest for 2010, just finished Social Network, and has four more movies in the can or being worked on.
Dude, he's hot shit right now
Fair point. I was thinking more of his time as pop-singer-(pre)teen-idol-with-highly-synthesized-music-and-screaming-girls-in-the-front-row.
That Justin and grownup Justin are almost two different people. I never liked (or even noticed, really) popstar Justin, but I really like the grownup version.
