[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I can't get over that guy, Vortex. What an entitled little asswipe. Does he not realize that results are what matter, rather than effort?

Unfortunately, we are dealing with a generation of young people who have been told that trying is just as good. Not all of them believe that, of course, but plenty of them do.

It's the thought that counts. Thinking the deed is as good as doing the deed. t /catholic

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

It's going to be a "teaching moment" for our meeting tomorrow. I will rip him a new asshole.

Any chance we could get streaming video in your office by 2 PM tomorrow? I would pop popcorn and make drinks for everyone.

Please, please, please?? I was sitting here thinking I wish I could watch, and then JZ posted this. This is perfect. We can ALL watch!!

Actual conversation from today (and one that I've had more than once):

Student: So, if I turn in my missing work, my grade will go up from a C to a B?

Me: Ummm...not necessarily. First, your late work is only worth 1/2 credit. Secondly, it depends on how well you do the assignment. It's all about math and how the numbers add up.

Student: What?

Me: If you do the assignments poorly and only get 2 points, that won't bring your grade up. You have to do the assignments well to get more points.

Student: What?

Good to hear that Ellie is doing better. Poor Buffista Noodles! Get better kiddos!

I am gobsmacked by Vortex's assistant and Steph L's office. Grrrrrr.

Ok. I got caught up. Must get back to work.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Wow. Definitely looking forward to hearing how the conversation with Vortex's assistant goes.

A few of my students are currently freaking out and sending me panicked emails, but it's mostly the students who are doing really well who are panicking.

I had meeting with two professors today, and both were like, "You're doing great. Keep doing what you're doing, and you'll be fine," which seems weird since I feel like I'm barely doing anything...especially for those classes. So weird. I guess my version of "good enough" work is still better than some other people's version of good work.

yeah, the ones who aren't doing well are the ones who come to your office after all is said and done and want to whine about their grades.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

They know a kindred spirit when they see one.

Or possibly they're all val.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I guess my version of "good enough" work is still better than some other people's version of good work.

This doesn't surprise me at all.
