These girls have the most beautiful dresses. And so do I -- how about that?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

but it's mostly the students who are doing really well who are panicking.

yeah, the ones who aren't doing well are the ones who come to your office after all is said and done and want to whine about their grades.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

A few of my students are currently freaking out and sending me panicked emails, but it's mostly the students who are doing really well who are panicking.

They know a kindred spirit when they see one.

I had meeting with two professors today, and both were like, "You're doing great. Keep doing what you're doing, and you'll be fine," which seems weird since I feel like I'm barely doing anything...especially for those classes. So weird. I guess my version of "good enough" work is still better than some other people's version of good work.

Or possibly they're all val.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

This doesn't surprise me at all.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

A student who has an average of over 100 emailed me to ask if it would hurt her grade a lot if she just skipped four problems on the homework, because she's having a lot of trouble with them and she has a lot of work for other classes. These problems are worth a total of four points. So far, a bit over halfway through the semester, they've had almost 300 points worth of homework. The homework grade counts for 10% of the total grade.

If my dry-roasted soybeans say "best before Jan 07 09" but they tasted fine- they're not going to make me ill are they?

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

And this is a math student? Can you deduct from her total for asking the question?

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

I was thinking the same thing! If she can't do the math to figure out how it would effect her grade, should you investigate if her work was really her work?

Mostly lurking...

I'm trying to decide when I want to try to go to bed. I haven't been able to fall asleep the last couple of nights--possibly the only negative effect of breakup to surface as of now. Toss and turn for like three hours. It's so fun. I'm trying to exhaust myself. I'm so exhausted that I'm getting a tired headache, but I don't feel like I'll sleep. Grrr.

Hil -- did you tell her to do the math?

Nah. Just told her that it would be OK. I don't really think that snarking at a stressed-out kid would help anything.
