Anyone else keep picturing Shakira?

Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I feel sort of sad because DH asked a few of the kids if they liked Owen. Not something I would have asked but all the kids replied, "Yeah...but he's kind of weird." This really breaks my heart. I think we're going to be in for a really rough road when he hits adolescence. But they were excited about coming and they did all seem to have a good time.
You know what? "Kinda weird" might be less intimidating once they get to name it like that.
Those rough adolescent times may well be mitigated by kids who've known Owen for years and enjoy his company and feel welcome in his home.
I hope so, Trude. I'm probably more bothered by this than I should be. It's why I don't ask that question from his peers.

This is one reason I'm glad we moved here. A small town with kids who have known him his whole life might be less judgemental of his behavioral quirks. But it's not so small that he won't be able to find kids with similar interests.
Embrace the weird! He's got an awesome imagination, and an incredible family. Things might get rough, but he's exactly the jewel you want and need and love.
And I wouldn't say that to just anyone about any kid. You know me too well for that.
Thanks, guys! He's just so amazing. He actually READ A BOOK TO his class last week. I love that his teachers work with his gifts and he really does feel like he's got friends. That is what's important.
Cashmere, face it, a lot of us Buffistas are weird. We pride ourselves on it. We are loved for it. And we love it.
There's a lot to be said for a smallish town in that regard.
Let me introduce you to the flamboyantly gay from the age of nada kid who played the wicked stepmother in Cinderella IN THE EIGHTH GRADE and was cheered wildly for it. This was nearly thrity years ago. ::feels woozy::
I still see him now and then -- he lives here in the city and is a hella awesome interior designer. We marvel at the absolutely zero crap he took growing up.
Please note: He is older than I.
For those of you who identify as bisexual, have you had equally long relationships with same sex as you have with opposite sex partners?
I've had two girlfriends, one for five months and one for two years. KBD is my only adult relationship with a guy, we're at one year and counting. In between girls and guys was eight years of being single. Not sure I'm any kind of representative sample.
Thanks, Smonster and Ms. Marcontell!
