My father used to claim that we were distantly related to the Stuart royal family on our Scottish side, but I'm pretty sure the entire UK and most of Western Europe would have to be wiped out before we could inherit the throne. Thanks, guys. It looks like she'll be OK, but she said that it took them about seven hours to stabilize her blood pressure. They're not sure what set off the allergic reaction -- as far as she knows, she's not allergic to anything.

I think I'm the first college graduate on my mother's side. On my father's side, there's one great-uncle who not only graduated college, but went on to teach mathematics at the University of Idaho in Pocatello.

Both of my grandmothers and one of my grandfathers went to college. (Or, at least, some sort of post-secondary school -- my grandmother went to whatever school was required to become a kindergarten teacher in Germany in the thirties.)
