I'm supposed to deliver you to the Master now. There's this whole deal where I get to be immortal. Are you cool with that?

I've always wondered if his name were pronounced Tom-baw or Tom-boy.

Closer to Tom-baw. It's almost Tom-bo. Last syllable very short. NM is particular about him because he pretty much is the freaking founder of NMSU's astronomy department and was a major force in astronomy in the state.

He didn't move to NM until after the Pluto discovery, which was at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, AZ.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Um, yeah. I'd say he's feeling better today.

(Currently home "sick" with a contagious-but-rambunctious little boy.)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Holy crap, Jess, he's going to outgrow that crib soon.

Compassionately intolerant

That was a great story about Mrs. Obama. A friend of a friend volunteers at that soup kitchen and was fair to bursting with pride and appreciation.

The Catholic Church caused all sorts of trouble for Galileo.

Ellis Paul has a great song. Did Galilleo Pray?

Of course, where great = my fierce love of folkies.

Weekend:

Saturday night: birthday party for a neighborhood friend.

Sunday: Another niece's birthday, if I can arrange transportation.

Somewhere in between, vacuuming my apartment, playing with my new Mac mini, and buying comics. I think I like Scott Pilgrim.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Reading that Michelle story got me thinking about my local food bank, so I called to see where they are and what they need. I'm heading to the grocery store to stock up my own pantry this weekend, and I noticed that Jewel has canned fruit and veggies, as well as cereal on sale, so I think I'll be buying some extra stuff for them.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A really cheerful and attractive woman in a short skirt and cool fishnets just came and talked to me.

That'll probably be my "event of the day," as I don't think I'm going to see Watchmen tonight.

Coding and Sleeping

If he doesn't break it first!

We had to make some modifications to Leif's crib to keep him from climbing out and generally damaging it. By the time he outgrew it, it had enough extra stuff put on it that it took on a Mad Max Road Warrior look.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yay, Lowell!

If he doesn't break it first!

(edited to put in the quote so it didn't look like I thought the observatory was rambunctious.)

He's huge and rambunctious! Don't, under any circumstances, send him to circus school, or he'll be using that thing as a vaulting horse in a wink.

weekend

Oh, jeez. First up the regular round of private lessons and errands. But on top of that there's the SO's symphony concert Saturday. And on top of that he's scheduled himself to throw a dinner at someone else's house. For money, but still. Lot of work in a short amount of time. And he's already wiped out now. But I have no sympathy, because he scheduled it all himself.
