Ooookay re: Christian salt.
I would totally work half-assedly all the time, instead of having clear boundaries.
Guilty. I end up working at midnight, but not at, say, eight in the morning. FAIL. That's part of my massive office reorg goal, to make it my work space and not my personal hang-out space. Although I really like the space, and I like having my own space, so I'm not sure if that's the right goal or not.
Well, although technically today is an off day -- I have this class on the Newbery that takes much more of my time than I thought it wuld . Today I worked on my class ( got a good job from the teacher ) and i sent the did the meeting notes for the children's meeting I was at mid-feb. ( my excuse for being so late -- this class -- which got me a hair pat from the big boss and an invite to share my class at t he next children's meeting). Any way I worked from about 12/1230 to five and way more efficiently than I do at work. I'd never get 8 hours a day 5 days a week -- but over 7 days you'd probably get more work out of me.
I have misplaced my digital camera, so for now there is a camera phone picture of my new hair: [link]
Ooooh, I likey, Shrift! Chic Shrift!
Question: I'm freakin' 35. Do I still need to put my education at the top of the resume?
Also, I have 2 and a half pages. What are the rules there? I have my last three jobs (dating back to 1998 to show 10+ years experience), my event planning business with budgets/charity receipts, and my writing experience.
Do I put that my book was featured in Entertainment Weekly?
Shrift not only looks good, she also looks not unlike bon.
Allyson, my last resume critique told me to move my education to the end. But I go on for four pages. And people keep asking me for more details. Oy.
I put education at the end.
the rules for length don't apply anymore-- but I tend to list skills/experience then a place of employment with titles / dates.
And that is where I would put book title and citations for awards/ reviews. I would include any online ones that might have proffessional merit.
If you are looking for an admin type job -- those skills should be emphasized. If you are looking for writing to be a part of a job -- put a link to recent blog post for cocktail party physics.
Even if your resume is 3 pages long -- clear -- skimmable are your goals.
good luck, Allyson.
So far, my two leads are both, "she sounds awesome. I have no idea where we'd put her, but send me her resume."
So I'm a little blind in that both places are famous in either science or entertainment, and peeps high up on the food chain are accepting my resume from my more famous/well-known contacts.
