Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I was wondering what Obama would do.... Obama backs Moon return in NASA budget

NASA will stay on track to return humans to the Moon by 2020, according to an overview of President Obama's 2010 budget request released on Thursday.

Recently, various groups - including Apollo astronaut Buzz Aldrin and the space advocacy group the Planetary Society - have called for NASA to send astronauts to new destinations, such as asteroids.

But the budget request backs a plan developed under the Bush administration to retire the space shuttle by 2010 and develop a system to return humans to the Moon by 2020.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Ummm... is this the best response to a man who's set himself on fire?

If he were threatening to run into something, maybe. Otherwise...

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

If he were threatening to run into something, maybe. Otherwise...

Well, it's also kind of a mercy killing, but I suspect that's not what the monk wanted before he set himself on fire.

I don't think "mercy killing" was what the cops were thinking either.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Well, it's also kind of a mercy killing, but I suspect that's not what the monk wanted before he set himself on fire.

That's exactly what I thought.

I don't think "mercy killing" was what the cops were thinking either.

Could be, though. If they wanted him to suffer before he died all they had to do was stand there.

I'm thinking their thinking was along the lines of, "He's engaging in a prohibited form of protest! Shoot him!"

information libertarian

So I'm writing a paper for a class. Two weeks ago I had to submit an introduction, research plan, and bibliography. Now I am submitting a revised introduction, revised research plan, ooutline, and expanded bibliography.

Problem is, my topic hasn't changed much as I have read more on the subject, and my introduction is still entirely relevant. And it's good and succinct - to make it longer would be more like writing the whole paper. But changing it just to "revise" it seems dumb. I mean, it is already good! Adding detail would wreck it!

Ideas?

I dunno. Just include a note saying, "At this point in the process, I feel revisions to the introduction are unnecessary"? And then maybe include the introduction again?
