I'll just jump in my time machine, go back to the twelfth century, and ask the vampires to postpone their ancient prophesy for a few days while you take in dinner and a show.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Dana, do I still own you money for the Vividcon dvd set?

Um, yeah, looks like it. $10.50. The con's in mid-August, so I'll send you the DVDs after that.

Or e-mail me if you want to send a check.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

How about I send you a check for $15 or so to cover postage?

I'm only vaguely sure what a clafouti is, but I bet it's more work than pancakes.

So not. Here's the recipe I use, which I think is partially Jesse's.

Clafoutis
2 tbsp butter
2 cups cherries (or blueberries)
4 eggs
½ cup sugar
½ cup lowfat milk
½ cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp dark rum
¾ cup flour
pinch salt

--Preheat oven to 350°. Place butter in 8x8 glass pan to melt in oven.
--Whisk eggs in bowl. Add sugar and whisk until mixture thickens and is pale yellow. Add milk, cream, vanilla, and rum. Whisk to combine. Add flour and salt. Whisk to combine.
--Layer berries over the bottom of the glass pan. Pour mixture over berries in pan.
--Bake, rotating once, about 45 minutes.

I think I mark the clafoutis all the time and never make it.

So my shoe fiasco from last week? GOT BETTER! Grace's shoes, which I also bought there and should fit her? One was a right size 4 and the other a right size 7.I have to go back for a THIRD time.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

But I'd have to wait an hour to eat a clafouti, whereas pancakes were ready in ten minutes.

That is true, but, like good fake birthday cake and pizza, it can provide breakfast for days.

I do actually have heavy cream, and I assume the rum can be left out. What's the measurement for the heavy cream? It just says 1/2. I'm assuming a half cup, but if I get it wrong, it would be really wrong.

Ooops, fixed now. Yes, 1/2 cup.

ETA: I suppose you could leave out the rum, but then you might be met with a chorus of "But why is the rum gone?"
