I just got off the phone with Mom, who wants to take me to the Breyers (sp?) doll factory for their tour when I visit her next month. (She collects the Christmas carolers.) It's near Valley Forge, so we can probably combine the two in one day.

I'm still trying to figure out why my Comcast dvr won't let me delete last week's SYTYCD performance ep. I've never had a problem with deleting a program before.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Maybe it was just that good?

Dear NBC,

If the promo for your new series sounds so treacly and cliched that James Purefoy can't make me interested in watching the premiere, you have a problem on your hands.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Your DVR hasn't watched it yet. It has needs too, you know.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

John Hodgman at the Radio & TV Correspondents' Dinner

Nerdtastic and funny.

I knew the answers to the three-part Dune question.

Compassionately intolerant

Hodgman was fantastic. A perfect idea and execution.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm down at my Mom's in PA for a couple days. After all the times I stayed in the winter, it's kind of cool to be here just to be here, visiting. Mom is off the supplemental oxygen, except at night, and takes along a bottle with her when she goes out, more for the psychological comfort than need.

Big family party on Wednesday, and tomorrow, I'm supposed to accompany her to a casino, which will probably be dreadful, but will make her very happy, so.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I tried watching The Philanthropist, for the pretty. Oh, so painful. Please to be canceled soon and free James Purefoy. It's worse than watching GA for Kevin McKidd.

Also, because Buffistas know everything -- is 'swathe' pronounced with a short a (ahhh) or a long a (ay)? I just heard a British guy pronounce it with a long a and now I'm worried that I've been mispronouncing it all these years....
