I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I really like the Golden Lotus in Oakland - Vietnamese veggie stuff like that fake duck that was developed for monks. Delicious.

DH is going on a retreat this weekend so I am planless, which makes a nice change, frankly. The Shore Fest is tomorrow a few blocks from my house, so I will probably go to that, but otherwise I will just putter around the house or, you know, whatever I feel like.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Weekend plans: fangirl dinner tonight, a meeting tomorrow, laundry, and I may go the Printer's Row book fair if we get a few hours of sunshine.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Herbivore is excellent. I take Jen K. there whenever she's in town. Millenium is upscale fancy.

There a Japanese place in the Mission that serves vegetarian and vegan dishes.

You could probably just cruise Yelp for vegan stuff and find a ton of Asian and Indian restaurants that cater. I've got a vegetarian Indian restaurant on my block that undoubtedly has some non-cheese dishes.

Aims, is the punk playing t-ball? Right on.

My weekend is busy. Jen K. is in town. So is Suzi. Emmett's got a game tonight, after which we're going to an A's game. Saturday and Sunday Emmett is umpiring. I'm socializing in and around that.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

You do have to be careful with Asian food though - with Japenese food there's almost always dashi involved, and Chinese food frequently has pork where you wouldn't expect it.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Indian food also almost always has butter unless you ask for it without.

For those fans of old-time newspapers and pulp stories, here's a site with scans of newspaper stories of mayhem, murder, and other scandalous stuff, mostly from the Chicago Tribune (so you'll see lots of weird spellings, courtesy of Colonel McCormick who was an advocate of spelling reform: "clew" for "clue," etc.).

Art Crawl!!!

Man, the second men's semi is a nailbiter - even with just the scores.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I can haz wireless internetz!

Moved in-ish, cats are loving their woodsy backyard, most of the gross stuff is cleaned (toilet, bathtub, washing machine(!)) and the primer is on the walls and I finally found the right shade of blue-green for the BR and LR walls. I think the kitchen and DR are going to be a deep mango and brilliant yellow-orange with the same buttery yellow I'm using in the other rooms to blend it.

Furniture is mostly fitting in the new smaller space, but some will have to go. Grrr.

Heating element in the dryer went kablooey, but at least the air dry gets the job done. And I'm a bit concerned that the hill behind (that the apartment/garage is actually built into) is already showing signs of erosion from even the first rain a couple of days ago. And it's still raining!

I knew I wanted to get rid of all the invasives, but I can't afford to replant them all, and their roots are the only meager things keeping that hill intact.

I am happy.

It's like the south and collard greens!

Also fish sauce can be ubiquitous.

Still, I bet the local SFistas on Yelp have scoped out which asian restaurants are vegan friendly.
