I make a policy of always going to stuff like that. Mostly it's worth it just to be more social, even if the event in question isn't my thing.

I love the ballet! Damn, I would go in a heartbeat.

I am staying in all weekend to avoid spending money. Clio's extraction & cleaning is going to cost in the $800 ballpark.
I so totally feel your pain Sue. Last weekend was not cheap, even before I killed my back up hard drive.
What the hell is she having extracted?

Wrod.
Last Saturday I had an extra $500 in the bank. Since then the transmission pan on my car got replaced and I had a trifecta of medical weirdness. The fates wait for us to go "Yeah, this is OK, I think I can relax now."

I swear my life has one of those. Every time I feel like I am actually starting to save money, something expensive happens. I also have a few repairs to do around the house that will be in the $1500-2000 range. OTOH, I don't usually carry a lot of debt (other than my mortgage), so I should probably count myself lucky.
