The cake was a new cake for us… the Guiness Cake. and the background was hand painted by Joe. All of the people involved in the cake are artists of some sort and it took (everyone combined) about 60 hours (background painting, leg and body cut outs, covering, cake/covering, assembly and painting) so we figured the cake to come in some where around $5,000 at the low end. I’m sure the bakery could do it faster and cheaper if we ever got a second order for it, but it would still be a bit pricy and it wouldn’t have a custom hand painted background!

I've been rooting for Kathleen Sullivan since I first saw her on some PBS Moot court thingie fifteen years ago and now I see she's on the list of potential candidates.

I went to the Mint last time I was in town and really enjoyed their museum - small but interesting. It's over at the Marigny end of the French Quarter.
I've been there! I got Emmett some vintage coins.
The Marigny is my favorite district. Love Cafe Brasil and Praline place that has lunch and serves yummy catfish fingers with Abita Turbodog. It's all ramshackle over there.
Hubble has been successfully captured by Atlantis. It was really cool to watch the grappler view, the same view Megan McArthur was using to maneuver it. And she got it on the first try! And it's her first shuttle mission!

Man, I am not gonna have enough time in NOLA!
My walk home is 2.66 miles. Probably a little less as sometimes I take footpaths that Google wouldn't trace.

That's true. And yet, it's best not to rush around down there. Pick your spots and savor them. Also, it's very important to arrange your day so that you can cab back to the Napoleon House at 3:00pm for a Pimm's Cup, then return to your hotel or B&B for a nap. Then you wake up, shower and go to dinner and seeing music.
My last trip to NOLA I had a great time working on the schedule of up and out by 9:30 - 10, drink in hand shortly after off to a tourist thing, stay perma-buzzed but never drunk all day, eat the big meal at lunch at the nicer places, try to get a spot in the sun in a patio for a few hours in the afternoon, shopping later afternoon, dinner, at the hotel and in bed by 10.
