Well, you'd better not be thinking what I think you're thinking, because my answer is the same as always — no threesomes unless it's boy-boy-girl. Or Charlize Theron.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

right -- the easy thing to if you want more vacation is to add more kids to your life.

Sending out the better-than-average recovery ma~~~ to your sister, Kat

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Man, that's serious, Kat. I wish her heartily the best.

Last time I was at the ER the social workers came to talk to me. They're on my case, trying to make sure I cope with this properly. Way to make me feel inconspicuous.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Msbelle, do you think something like this could give Mac an outlet when he gets so worked up?

Tommyrot, not that you should let the landlord push you, but you might find apartment hunting easier now than in 4 months. The Loyola area has tons of apartments available now which will fill up before the fall semester.

Kat, health-ma to your sister and dad.

ita, conspicuousness aside, it's probably good to have a neutral party looking out for you.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Health ~ma and coping~ma to you and your family, Kat.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Health-ma to all family members, for sure. From what I've read, liver transplant patients in particular feel remarkably better immediately, too!

ita, social workers can sometimes be a real help, if only because they see a lot of the same problems and can coach pretty effectively. I was super pleased with the SW that my Mom's retirement community sent, who took one good look around her apartment and suggested a list of improvements that really were winners.

Anyway, the SW is still going to be more helpful than the guy who wanted you to break open your 401K....

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Anyway, the SW is still going to be more helpful than the guy who wanted you to break open your 401K....

Seriously!

Can they figure out what's going on with your thyroid? You're long overdue for a proper diagnosis and effective treatment that'll give you your life back.

Kat, your poor sister! Although, also, wow. One single week on the transplant list is amazing. I just wish the surgery hadn't been so rough on her.

Health~ma to all who need it.

Oy. Representative opposing the bill granting family leave to federal employees, because people might take advantage of it by stocking up on kids:

Well, shit. It's one of our guys. Proof that California is not exactly the lefty madhouse it's often portrayed as. We've got madness all across the political spectrum.

Another thing about the adoption thing -- I bet it SAVES the federal government a whole lot more than four weeks salary when an orphan gets adopted or a foster child gets homed, at least in the long run.

Guess Michelle Bachman doesn't have an exclusive on Teh Stupid Crazy, though.

“Not dead yet!”

Wow, Kat-- definite health ~ma for your sister.

And you don't suck.

This morning I have to go to a Mother's Day brunch at Abby's school. She's wearing her pink "Princess" apron. I love my kid.

Fascinating stats about mothers from the census: [link]

Frex, 80% of women 40-44 are mothers. It was 90% 30 years ago.
