When and why the "so help me God" part was added to the outh of the office?
The presidential oath of office in the Constitution doesn't include "so help me God," but every president has added it. [link]
Technically, the oath is "swear or affirm" and swearing has traditionally had a religious connotation, like swearing on the Bible. A president could theoretically affirm that he will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States and not add "so help me god" and put his hand on the Bible, except that the political fallout would be huge.

I've recently heard many poo-poohing Magnolia's cupcakes (too dry mostly), but the pumpkin one I just had was just delicioso. Now I will savor the rest of my Blast before having the white cake one with pink icinfg for desert.
