That happened to me with TWA 800, which was my standard transatlantic for years.
Gothamist is running slow, but SFGate seems to have some of the same incredible photos - including those of passengers standing on the wings!

Just crazy. My friends who work at 36th and 10th, on the 7th floor, said they just watched the plane float on by.
Jeez louise -- I have been slightly aggravated with an unavailable coworker all week, but then I heard she had had "a medical emergency" on Monday night, and has been "working from home" since, so I thought, OK. Then I just heard she was in a car accident, so I thought that was the emergency, but no! Turns out she's been having gall bladder problems all week and THEN had the car accident today. Yikes!
mac and I were on the westside with a million emergency vehicles whizzing by - now I know why. I am glad everyone seems to be ok. Crashes into water don't have a great record for survivals.
They cancelled night classes tonight.
I bet we're back in the office tomorrow though.
