Harmony: Somebody remembered to pick me up the sweetest unicorn. Guess someone was feeling guilty for standing me up in tenth grade. Brad: What? Had to get her something. She sired me. Peaches: Sire-whipped.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That picture of your sister looks *just* like Matilda.

Pretty similar, huh? That's really my paternal grandmother's features coming through. Sadly, my sister had to suffer a perm for those curls, whereas Matilda's come from JZ.

information libertarian

Your sister got a perm as a little girl?

Nobody has perms any more, do they? Or are they going to come back, like acid wash skinny jeans?

Your Dad kind of looks like (a blond) Tony Head to me, David.

brillig

Oh, dear, I have a pissed off customer, and all I can think to do is to be uber-polite until he has a stroke.

I packed one small box (stuff on the narrow cd shelf) and 3/4 one of the large moving boxes I got from work.

I think this is all I can cope with tonight.

Matilda is so adorable.

Indeed. It was pretty common in the fifties.

eta: My mom in the fifties with a matching perm.

The trend is definitely moving away from straight hair, and thanks to Amy Winehouse (and Lagerfield following in her wake) big hair is making a resurgence. Judging from the cutting edge of hipster girls in SF, big hair might be coming back but perms have not.

The blond is really throwing me, I think. My dad's hair is naturally brown but it's very sunbleached there and tousled (which it never is in pictures of him from that time).

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My dad with my sister when she was a newborn. He's reminding me of somebody but I can't place it. Some sort of actor type.

Spencer Tracy, but not built as block-ish.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK, I just cancelled an interview for a job I don't want and ordered a big spa gift certificate. I am feeling calmer already!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Well played, Cowgirl.

My paternal grandparents.

My immediate family, back in the 50s before I was born. My parents and sister are back row on the left. My cousin Gary (who grew up to join the Hells Angels) is sitting on my grandparents lap. The skinny guy on the back row far right is my Uncle Noel - my father's only brother. Next to him is his wife, my Aunt Dot (freakass! Freaky Aunt Dot!) Bottom left corner, the pretty girl with yet another perm is my cousin Teri who grew up to be a model.

My aunt got googlecammed! When you look on their street in streetview, there she is, out walking their two dogs! Hilarious!
