I hate to break it to you, oh impotent one, but you're not the big bad anymore, you're not even the kind of naughty.

Musica question: Who is a musician comparable to Uwe Boll - that is widely and justly despised, but still with a commercial niche that prevents him or her from ever going away? Both the *widely* and *justly* despised are important. Can't be someone who is popular with anyone but a narrow demographic, can't be someone good but underappreciated, yet must be someone who survives in a niche market.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Nickelback?

Thanks. i'm using this as an analogy to communicate to soe environmentalists. Which of the following is the LEAST likely pushback to hear from a crunchy middle class group, varying in age, some with hipster tendencies:

"Kenny G. is awesome."

"Nickleback is awesome."

"Yanni is awesome."

"Andre Rieu is awesome"?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

If I had to rank them in reverse order of pushback likelihood?

1) Yanni
2) Kenny G.
3) Nickleback

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

This week's On the Media has a charming interview with Cyndi Lauper. I didn't know she was SO awesome. I think I might have to run out and get her book.

Anyway, the host played a minute if her duet with Patti Labelle on "Time After Time" and I got goosebumps. I have to track it down because their harmonizing was much better than I ever expected with Labelle doing her syncopation thing.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

One of my mother's former students is in Kinky Boots on Broadway. It's pretty cool watching her post pictures of herself and her mom and Cyndi Lauper on FB.
