"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Video of a Wall of Death in India.

Dag! That looks dangerous.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Can you ride a helter-skelter while playing a hurdy-gurdy?

Hee. That is exactly where my mind went. I hadn't realised that helter skelters were unrecognised in America, but... of course they're not.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I just want to mention that TMBG's newest cd, Join Us, >[link] is really freaking awesome. Hec, I know you felt they hadn't done anything good in the last decade and I urge you to give it a listen. I think you will be VERY pleased with it.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Tuba thefts plague California schools.

Though the police have not made any arrests, music teachers say the thefts are motivated by the growing popularity of banda.

At least they're not melting them down or something.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Or using them to smuggle drugs.

Speaking of TMBG, this is the winner of their fan video contest from this summer, which is awesomecakes. [link] The estimable John Hodgman was the judge and he made a fantastic choice. I love the song and the video is a pure delight.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

So I've been kind of obsessing over Fool in the Rain for the last week or so. Yes, just the one song. I do that sometimes. But I keep thinking about something Kec said once a few years back about Don Was saying something about Dave Grohl being the only other human being besides Bonzo to have perfect time. And then I found this you tube video of his drum out takes for FitR: [link] (NSFW language right at the top)

The man sounds like a precision timepiece. A drunken, swearing, precision timepiece.

Also, I'm blown away by how small his kit is.

Except for the Double Bass drums. (Which he used to line with tin foil, while other drummers were dampening them with pillows.)
