They were on! I saw them -- they were adorable.
Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Awwwww, I missed Cobra and the Stompers. Packers football is a harsh mistress.
And here's some video. God, I love this town. [link]
Measure of a band:
Tried to make a best-of list for R.E.M.
First pass comes up at 4.5 hours long. And that's skimming maybe one track per album from the last third of their career.
Jesus and Mary Chain, piano duo
Rather pretty.
Here is a lovely cover of The Jesus & Mary Chain's "Just Like Honey" played on two pianos!
At the risk of sounding like an asshole, it's a nice idea but I wish they were better players.
Help find a song? Cleolinda is driving herself mad trying to find a particular cover of "Love Will Tear Us Apart". Kind of electronica, and a female vocalist. Cleolinda swears it was some sort of one-word name like Bjork.
I already checked with her, and it wasn't the Nouvelle Vague cover.
So it wasn't these guys then?
The iTunes store has hundreds of versions of that song, likely candidates include:
- Philistine
- Evelyn Evelyn
- Squarepusher
- Broken Social Scene
- June Taybor & Oysterband
- Damhnait Doyle
- Nana Wang
- Kiki and Herb
OK, it's probably not Kiki and Herb, but now I want to hear that version.
Swans? They have two versions. Both are awesome.
