At the risk of sounding like an asshole, it's a nice idea but I wish they were better players.
Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Help find a song? Cleolinda is driving herself mad trying to find a particular cover of "Love Will Tear Us Apart". Kind of electronica, and a female vocalist. Cleolinda swears it was some sort of one-word name like Bjork.
I already checked with her, and it wasn't the Nouvelle Vague cover.
So it wasn't these guys then?
The iTunes store has hundreds of versions of that song, likely candidates include:
- Philistine
- Evelyn Evelyn
- Squarepusher
- Broken Social Scene
- June Taybor & Oysterband
- Damhnait Doyle
- Nana Wang
- Kiki and Herb
OK, it's probably not Kiki and Herb, but now I want to hear that version.
Swans? They have two versions. Both are awesome.
I will pass the names onto her and see if any of them are the one. Thanks!
Dag, The Great Lost Kinks Album (1973) is aptly named.
If Colin Meloy ever did an album this good he could retire.
Also, I think the Kinks are ripe for a Gothic cover band with songs like "Wicked Annabella" and "Little Miss Queen of Darkness."
I've pimped them before, but Wild Flag were on Letterman last night and were very very good. [link]
Huh. As it turns our I do have the "bongo version" of Kate Bush's "December Will Be Magic Again."
This is brilliant. [link]
And I'm not saying this just because I'm on strong anti-fever-and-cold meds. I hope.
