There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Siouxsie's cover of "The Passenger" -- although I can't really tell whether it's better, or just tied too deeply to too many bone-deep memories for the original, which I first heard many years after the cover, to gain any purchase.

I heard Iggy's original version first. I love both versions muchly and equally.

Because books.

And the Indigo Girls' cover of "Uncle John's Band."

Oh, that's a lovely one! Their voices are so perfect for it.

On that same album is Dr. John's cover of "Deal" which I also love like cake.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

And the Indigo Girls' cover of "Uncle John's Band."

Oh, I love this one! I also love their cover of "Romeo and Juliet", but I am not sure I could say it is better than Dire Straits.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I also love their cover of "Romeo and Juliet", but I am not sure I could say it is better than Dire Straits.

I don't think I've ever heard their cover. And now I'm sitting at my desk misting up and getting weepy just thinking about the original. That right there is a song, I tell you what.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Issac Hayes doing "Lay Lady Lay"

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I have a liking for the Corr's cover of "Dreams". At a different speed, Spiderbait's "Black Betty".

And at a very different speed, D.A.A.S. doing "Stairway To Heaven" with barry Crocker, and Rolf Harris covering "I Touch Myself".

The originals are awesome, but Camper Van Beethoven's versions of "Interstellar Overdrive" and "Pictures of Matchstick Men" are definitive.

Eric Clapton's acoustic version of Layla is amazing (does that count?).

I adore the Drive-By-Truckers' version of Like a Rolling Stone, a song I didn't like in the original.

Judy Collins's cover of Masters of War.
