Am listening to Queen's "Killer Queen." I am amused that I loved that song as a kid despite having no idea what it was about.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Ditto. Even with them cooing "Such a drag..." on the outro.
Even more belatedly I realized that every early seventies rock song with "Queen" in the title was making the same reference. "Rock and Roll Queen" by Mott the Hoople, "Lonestar Queen" by the New York Dolls. Probably even "Mississippi Queen" ("if you know what I mean...") by Mountain.
Relatedly, I put a cover of Van Morrison's "Madam George" by Marianne Faithful on a mix and I've been thinking about that song. It's always read as being about an aging drag queen though Van has denied it. But it's hard to miss a line like, "And in the corner playing dominoes in Drag / the one and only Madame George."
Isn't Mississippi Queen about a prostitute?
Isn't Mississippi Queen about a prostitute?
Drag Queens can be prostitutes too!
When I was a kid, I had no idea "House of the Rising Sun" was about a prostitute/bordello.
"Greig 'Theremin Hero' Stewart has developed a way to play Guitar Hero with a theremin, like an air guitar. The results speak for themselves, in this rocking video complete with awesome costumes and some sweet artwork. It even has a Co-op mode. ROCK ON! This needs to be a real product!"
Theremin Guitar Hero
I saw that yesterday, but couldn't decide whether to post in here, tech, or the gaming thread. Then I saw something shiny and forgot.
