Right, there comes a point where you have to either move on, or just buy yourself a Klingon costume and go with it.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

There was actually a good TV show about the young Elvis.

The one directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The one directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell?

Nah, that's a movie. The one that starred the young guy from the original Hairspray.

I think it was called Elvis: the Early Years or something like that. I'll look it up...

I guess it was just called Elvis a ten episode miniseries with Michael St. Gerard. (an excellent likeness)

Hmmm, more as I remembered it: Elvis: the Early Years 13 episode series.

Priscilla had a hand in producing this and it was a very faithful account of his early band on the road before he broke huge.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Lynda Carter does a "Rock N' Roll Fantasy Medley" from a 1980 TV variety special: [link]

Stick with it. At around 2:30, it rises to a whole new level of WTF.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

When I grow up, I want to do batshit stage shows like that.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Random thought:

Am listening to Galaxie 500's cover of New Order's "Ceremony." The lead guitar part sounds really sad to me.

Now I'm not sure why it sounds sad. The notes seem slightly late in an intentional syncopated style - maybe that's it. Or maybe I'm just sad.

Cheer up, bucko! Listen to some Jonathan Richman. I recommend "Down in Bermuda." One cannot remain too downcast after listening to "Down in Bermuda."
