Yay Jon!
ION, has anyone tried LyricRat? You enter what lyrics you can remember for a song you want to find, and it searches for you....
I searched for "just like sister ray said" and it correctly flagged that as the VU's "Sister Ray." OK, maybe that was too easy as I used the song title in the search. Am now searching on "two cats in the yard" and it's been running the search for several minutes without returning results yet....
I just Googled: "two cats in the yard" lyrics
My first hit was [link]
I tried "i want to walk around with you" on LyricRat and it failed to find the song ("Summertime Clothes" by Animal Collective).
I had to rerun the search on "two cats in the yard" but this time it did find the song.
Yeah, Google always works fine for me with lyrics.
Yeah, I think I'll stick to google. I also tried "she's got a black belt in karate" and it was the 5th match on LyricRat, but the first on google. (google also found the correct Animal Collective song as its first match for "i want to walk around with you".)
The lyric from the Flaming Lips song is "She's a black belt in karate", no "got".
LyricRat couldn't identify a single Siouxsie or old Cure song I tried. I mean, "Face to Face" starts:
Face to face
My lovely foe
I tried "my lovely foe" and got 5 hip-hop songs with "foe" in the title. Bah.
The lyric from the Flaming Lips song is "She's a black belt in karate", no "got".
Oopsie!
I tried "my lovely foe" and got 5 hip-hop songs with "foe" in the title. Bah.
Yeah, Lyric Rat seems to weigh "popularity" higher than "close match."
Bastards!
Thanks for all the "awesomes!" and "yay!"ses. I'm still holding out hope that that ad agency will call again (not really).
I'm being extra-cautious about stuff for a while.
But this may be of some amusement/interest to Star Wars fans.
(double-checks his HTML - okay)
