Well, quite a lot of fuss. If I didn't know better, I'd think we were dangerous.

I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

One tie-breaker method I've used before is to check the previous bracket and advance the quote that got the most votes there; if that doesn't help (i.e., if both won on a 8-3 margin), then flip a coin.

...all my words have been taken by my work. - Mala

While ties are a problem, I can appreciate why they're tied.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

lcat's method would put bikini inspector and hold me, Sam through.

I'll give it another hour, and then go with that. Even if they are the WRONG ANSWERS.

Wait! Wait! Can I retract my suggestion? These are clearly the wrong results .... particularly the bikini inspector line

Okay, using lcat's totally wrongmaking method... ::sniff:: ...here we go:

Season 1, Round 3, Bracket #1/1:

Dean: House rules, Sammy. Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole.

vs

Sam: Dude! I can't use this badge!
Dean: Why not?
Sam: It says 'bikini inspector' on it!

Dean: You hurt my brother and I swear to God I will kill you, you hear me? I will kill you all!

vs

Dean: No chick flick moments.
Sam: Alright...jerk.
Dean: Bitch.

Dean: I think he wants us to pick up where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things—the family business.

vs

Sam: I wish I could have that kind of innocence. Dean: If it means anything, sometimes I wish you could, too.

Dean: (to his Dad's voicemail) Dad, I know I've left messages before. I don't even know if you get 'em. But I'm with Sam and we're in Lawrence and there's something in our old house. I don't know if it's the thing that killed Mom or not... but... (tears up) I don't know what to do. So whatever you're doing, if you could get here... please. I need your help, Dad.

vs

Dean: What made you change your mind?
Sam: I didn't. I still want to find dad... and you're still a pain in the ass. But Jess and mom - they're both gone. Dad is God knows where. You and me, we're all that's left. So, uh, if we're gonna see this through, we're gonna do it together.
Dean: Hold me, Sam. That was beautiful.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And my votes for round #3:

  • House rules: because
  • Jerk/Bitch: They're both about love, but this one is mutual expression
  • Family business: I'm really sorry to see the other one go, but family business is family business
  • I need your help, Dad: Dean reaching out...

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

S1R3B1

cakehole: classic line
jerk bitch: brotherly bonding over extreme vengeance
family business: this one is going to the finals, dammit
beautiful: brotherly bonding over extreme sadness

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

1. House rules

2. No chick flick moments.

3. I wish I could have that kind of innocence.

4. Hold me, Sam. That was beautiful.

1,2, and 4. I tend to like the snark more than the sweet (although both options for 1 were snarky).

3. captures something about Dean and Sams relationship that appeals to me.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

1) shotgun/cakehole
2) jerk/bitch (though it's a hard choice)
3) saving people hunting things
4) hold me Sam (those are tough to have going up against each other)

shakes tiny fist at line breaks

Because books.

Season 1, Round 3, Bracket, #1/1

  • shotgun/cakehole: No contest there for me.
  • bitch/jerk: Oooh, very tough! But bitch/jerk is seminal.
  • family business: What the show's about!
  • I need your help, Dad.: Another no contest for me.
