"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

In what way has he shown a lack of power? Finding Death and restoring Bobby's legs and actually disappearing in front of our eyes is enough to put him above everyone we've seen but Lilith and Alistair.

We've seen Ruby and the other crossroads demons do the appear/disappear thing haven't we? Finding Death and restoring Bobby's legs were part of a deal for a soul, which we've been told opens up new opportunities (like resurrecting the dead) that demons wouldn't be able to under their own power. And Crowley seemed somewhat worried about personal conflicts with other run-of-the-mill demons and hellhounds, something I wouldn't have expected from a demon the same grade as Alistair or Ruby's unnamed mentor. My impression is that he might have climbed to the top through guile, or might just be lying about how far he's advanced.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Not onscreen, I don't think. But that's probably just a filming thing.

And Crowley seemed somewhat worried about personal conflicts with other run-of-the-mill demons and hellhounds

I am totally not sure that wasn't all a big ploy to manipulate Brady and the boys at the same time. There was no external confirmation of any of it. I'm very suspicious. The whole offscreen conflict plus exact same bugging mechanism? Smacks of unreliable narrator.

Also, getting his hands on Death's scythe is no mean feat. Alistair was the last being we saw with it.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Season 1, Round 2, Bracket #1 of 2:

Dean: House rules, Sammy. Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole.

Sam: Dude! I can't use this badge!
Dean: Why not?
Sam: It says 'bikini inspector' on it!

Meg: He begged for his life with tears in his eyes. That's when I slit his throat.
Dean Winchester: For your sake, I hope you're lying. 'Cause if it's true, I swear to God, I will march into hell myself and I will slaughter each and every one of you evil sons of bitches, so help me God.

Dean: No chick flick moments.
Sam: Alright...jerk.
Dean: Bitch.

Season 1, Round 2, Bracket #2 of 2:

Dean: I think he wants us to pick up where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things—the family business.

Dean: I'd take our family over normal any day.

Dean: (to his Dad's voicemail) Dad, I know I've left messages before. I don't even know if you get 'em. But I'm with Sam and we're in Lawrence and there's something in our old house. I don't know if it's the thing that killed Mom or not... but... (tears up) I don't know what to do. So whatever you're doing, if you could get here... please. I need your help, Dad.

Dean: What made you change your mind?
Sam: I didn't. I still want to find dad... and you're still a pain in the ass. But Jess and mom - they're both gone. Dad is God knows where. You and me, we're all that's left. So, uh, if we're gonna see this through, we're gonna do it together.
Dean: Hold me, Sam. That was beautiful.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I think what bugs me most about Ghostfacers is that it very faithfully reproduces all the things that bug me the most about reality ghost shows. That said, I do like the episode.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I know it's mostly totally Kripke's fault, but now I'm reading some fic that involves Chuck that's verging on RPF. Yeah, he inserted himself first, but if a fic suddenly gets way OOC on Chuck, it feels like the author is talking about Kripke and not the character and it makes me feel awkward.

Show, fandom, why you gotta do me so?

Amy - May 20, 2010 12:31:29 pm PDT #9623 of 30002
Because books.

I wouldn't even begin to know what Kripke's like, other than a little bit little-boy earnest maybe.

There's no show tonight, and that makes me sad.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just read a fic where Chuck took a stand against fanfic, and all I can think is huh? Really? Are we talking the character, or are we talking meta? Because in-canon, you're going to have to work for that realisation.

It just felt like someone was trying to comment more than tell a story, and I felt defensive on the part of a guy who doesn't need my protection.
