If the show had not been renewed, Bobby and Castiel would have stayed dead, Sam and Michael would have gone to hell. If they had kept Andy, then the final seen would have been of Dean slowly dying. Or possibly if it had not been for the S6 renewable the plan would have been for both Dean and Sam to be meat suits and it would have ended as they took over from their drivers and jumped into hell together.

Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
First of undoubtedly many codas. Seems more people think it needed fixing than I'd have guessed.
Dean looked very grim, and he was still drinking. I don't think he wandered off and forgot his brother. I don't think that's possible--and after all that happened in that ep, he's even more damaged than he was at the start of it.
PLEASE LET THE SEASON START IN SEPTEMBER. I fear I'm going to be a dirty little spoiler whore.
Jumping the gun on dawn a little to wish Theresa Happy Birthday! without an iota of irony.
Good idea, Plei. I like the idea of Chuck as Elijah a lot better than Chuck as God.
And now that I've checked out the lyrics to "Rock of Ages" I agree that it was a good song to use. [link]
I think that this episode was pretty good closure to the past five seasons while still setting up a potentially interesting season six. The boys have had a habit of trying to sacrifice themselves for each other, so I thought it would be a question of which one would get the chance at the end of the season. The story arc just seems to bend that way. I thought both JA and JP did terrific jobs and I liked the role the Impala played.
ETA: It just occurred to me that if Chuck is God, he just wrote a novel about how his creations' creation (the Impala) helped save the world. That's so Proud Grandpa of him.
That coda that ita linked makes me wonder:
Are people really that surprised that, given they are guaranteed an S6, the showrunners would keep a few things unresolved? So that they, you know, have some more stories to tell next season?
Happy Birthday, Theresa!
Happy Birthday, Theresa!
I thought that was all Sammy at the end. I think Sam is stealing himself to drag Dean back into it. Possibly with something to do with Ben or Lisa. . . if it's a Winchester family thing - then most likely Ben.
Happy Birthday, Theresa!!
Man, I feel the need to rewatch the entire season, now, but I haven't been saving more than four episodes at a time on the DVR. Ah, well. More to look forward to when the DVDs come out.
Happy Birthday, Theresa!
I thought that was all Sammy at the end.
I hope for this but I have to believe the light popping off and Sammy's ambiguous expression mean something.
It would be cruel of Sam to not tell Dean he's there if it is him. I could see the story going that way because he's trying to do the right thing by Dean and give him the life he should have (by Sam's definition).
I wanna know how Sam got out of the pit. And where's Michael, then? Lot's of stuff to mull over during hellatus.
