I am obviously the nice one.
You know that doesn't work even here, where msbelle is not, don't you?
Buffy ,'Get It Done'
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

See, me, I believe in a one true canon. No one actually said they slept together, so it's nothing but wish fulfillment to pretend otherwise--cop to that. It's not even a strong implication.
This.
Now the "erotically co-dependent" I view as canon and people can then interpret the narrator or whatever about it, but it doesn't change it from being said.
See, me, I believe in a one true canon.
Well I believe in the canon how *I* see it and sometimes, in this show, it is less than explicit. So I really just defend people's rights to see things inaccurately in their own journals. But I only get to tell them they are craxy and wrong if they say it in a more public venue. It's the John Winchester effect, for me.
I am still putting a "rec" list together.
I figure things can waver when it comes to unreliability of narrators, etc (I believe Sam when he says John drank a lot, for instance, but not Zach about the erotic co-dependence). Just that when you do all the work in filling in the meaning like that, you don't get to call it canon without me looking at you funny, even if it's in your journal. I choose to interpret a lot of stuff (like, say, John may have hit the kids) but I'm not going to call them canon in any forum, even if I can point clearly to where I inferred it from.
I am still putting a "rec" list together.
Any starter kit should have, say, 5 vids on it too. And a question I see on IO9 a lot is "How much of S1 should I watch if I don't want to watch the whole thing?" So that should be covered.
Me? Demanding? Jamais!

I feel certain I've rec'd more than five vids already. Haven't I?
And it's already more than a starter kit but culling further would involve rereading all of the stories and putting them in more of an order. So it's Things Cass Liked list. With links and a caution to read any warnings.

But isn't that just fanon? I'll totally defend anyone's right to fanon anything they want. But canon has to be explicit on the show, right? Otherwise I could make up anything I wanted and call it canon. Bobby had papers all over his desk, therefore his sister was a librarian. Canon.

So that should be covered. And while I am being all judgey mcjudgeypants, I think this question should be met with suggestions of episodes to watch and then a stern warning that this show is a journey and skipping episodes is skipping part of the journey.
See I told you self-righteous indignation.
I feel certain I've rec'd more than five vids already. Haven't I?
Oh, yes.
But now I'm just thinking of a welcome kit to SPN fandom all together in one place. And, uh, in my head I nominated you.
Makes total sense from where I'm sitting.
I could never do it. My list of fic is random and makes no sense whatsoever and I have no idea what's enshrined SPN fanwork.
Hmm. Thinking of things ita likes, I really should be bookmarking the fanart I like. Most of it leaves me cold, but I do like the crack. The chibi stuff gets me every time. There's one of Dean, Sam, and Castiel taking a bubble bath that's just ridiculously cute, and I need to find it again.

John drinks. Canon. John drinks too much. Canon but from a possibly a very unreliable narrator at the time. John was a less than stellar father. Pretty damn canon but subject to interpretation. John abused the boys horribly. Is reading way more into canon than has been said but I think people are allowed to interpret it that way.
Bobby's sister is a librarian. AU. Unless Bobby has mentioned a sister that I've just forgotten about. Personally, I think Bobby's the librarian since the books are his. But that's not canon either.
Frankly, the writing is getting a little to fanbaity for me and I can see where people who want to see Wincest in the show itself are getting it. I disagree but that's my read.
And, uh, in my head I nominated you.
Awww, that's so sweet and delusional of you. The welcome to SPN kit would be awesome though.
I think people are allowed to interpret it that way.
There's a difference between interpreting something and saying "now it's canon" though, and that's really what I'm reacting to. I hardly think that comment was explicit enough to do anything other than hang a dream onto. It barely even rose to the level of fanbait for me. Unlike, say, all of Point of No Return.
that's so sweet and delusional of you.
I am still the nicest.
And filled with the desire to see lists. Like, top five SPN fics, and stuff.
