I was bothered by the end bit as well.
I still have to rewatch the end, but by the time Dean got Brady back to the house, he was working for me again. I found him strangely OOC from where he agreed to go without Sam all the way until Crowley bagged Brady.
People at IO9 are saying that Brady killing Jess wasn't a retcon.
Who did we think killed Jess up until this point if not the YED? I'm not complaining...I think it works perfectly well and not contradictorily for it to have been under his orders, and deliciously for Sam to have been watched and manipulated so closely, but dude, most people would have told you Azazel did it before last night. I don't get why there's so much debate.
That did surprise me, because I did assume YED himself was doing the wet work, as it were, but it also works perfectly well for me to know a henchman was carrying out his plan.

It certainly helps that we saw him in Sam's room when he was a baby and we were led to assume Mary's death and Jess's death went down the same way.

In the midst of insomnia-induced tossing and turning the other morning, I envisioned customised T-shirts for the boys. They get two each. They're either wearing "Don't fuck with me. I'm with Dean (or Sam) Winchester." or "I'm with Stupid."
Most of last night Sam was wearing his "I'm with Stupid" shirt. Now I think I want to change the shirts in my head to "I'm with Moose" and "I'm with Squirrel".
Yes. I started iTunes before we had a dvr. And then I had to share the dvr and had to delete as I watched. I wanted eps to rewatch, so iTunes was the way. But you get no extra features on iTunes. Plus, dvds! In your hand! That you can stroke and pet and murmur over and call my precioussss.
I wound up moving previous seasons to a portable exterior drive, but I still have them. So anywhere I go that I take my laptop, I have multiple seasons of SPN plus lotsa vids plus a few other things to watch if I get bored. Same laptop plays dvds. My writing "retreats" involved a lot of carrot-and-stick in the form of eps and things.
