We should mount a campaign to get the good 'cest writers to rewrite their stories and take those parts out!
This. That curtain fic I just which was awesome, thank you Amy, was a totally plausible gen story.
You could totally unstitch the wincest and still have the angst of settling into a domestic scene for a while.

I know there's so much quality there, it hurts. I'm jealous, but I try periodically (like I keep tasting beer) and I just get slammed right out of the story. I tried the foo story, and enjoyed myself mightily until I had to hit the back button.
It's like the world is getting back at me for the odd link I might have posted here or there.

Just the one or two, huh?

[foo] is delicious! will never not be funny to me.
Tummies of iron!
Cass used to do that for me.
It's surprisingly easy for a lot of good stories. Because then it's just looking at them a little squinty and seeing they are way overinvested in each other. Like canon.
When Damon makes comments like "Where's our girlfriend?", I vote canon.
It's totally canon. *nods*
Further upthread there was a request for curtainfic. I have two other recs, although both are first-time wincest:
Mile Zero by setissma
Pie In the Sky by flawedamythyst
In other news, approximately 3hrs10min until Show!
Okay, two hours until Stephan(gag) and Damon(sleep with Elena already), and three until SHOW.
It's TOO long. Fuck it, if I get a genie wish I'm totally wasting it on being able to see the episodes as they are filmed. World peace is gonna have to wait.
I'm going to have to watch on Tivo delay, alas.
(Of course, it's because I'm going to the live taping of Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me, so I really can't complain.)
When it comes to SPN fic, I'm mainly a gen fan. I like fic that explores the cracks in the canon--the bits we don't see after, before, or between, and I love (to read and write) stories about the supporting characters.
I don't mind some degree of het or slash (though not a fan of Sam/Dean), and when I do read NC-17 stuff, I find I am quite vanilla in my inclinations.
Damon(sleep with Elena already)
No, there just needs to be a couple of episodes where Damon goes on a road trip to sleep around and eat people. With maybe more flashbacks to vamp sex while in antique-y clothing.
(I admit it. I'm very shallow when it comes to that show.)
So Damon should really just go looking for a fuck and a snack, while tragically broken?
Theresa, you think you have it bad. Normally I try and pacify myself with the knowledge that at least the east coast got up earlier than I did, but with insomnia that doesn't work. So I'm waiting way too long for Show goodness/pain.
I refuse to cry tonight. I swear.
I was really disappointed with the lack of codas I could find from last week's episode. It wasn't more depressing than Dark Side of the Moon, but I guess everyone couldn't just have Sam pick up the amulet or have Dean kill Roy and Walt. More shock, maybe, and knowledge of certain Jossing.
I love codas the most, I think, and it's a shame they're not more plentiful. I find they don't have me going insane with canon issues (well, except when Castiel apparates out of nowhere, but it's possible I've mentioned that before), even when I read them later.
And Weechesters the second most.
I think I hate most people that write intricate AUs, but I can't stop inhaling them anyway. It seems I keep bumping into ones where they physically damage the Boys and I feel outraged. I guess I just prefer them mostly emotionally broken and pretty spry. Blind!Dean, permanently mute!Dean...grr!
