I half-wondered if Dean thought Ash's explanation of "soul-mate" described Lisa. Then again, after all this discussion and season six a definite, I wonder if Lisa and Ben were planted for the post-apocalypse story arc.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I hope not. I go for the Occam's razor and figure it's the boys.

I just watched the sneak peeks on my phone and I want to cry. Especially #2. Oh, Bobby. Oh, hell, all of them.

This is better left in the realm of fanfic. I'm not sure it would be as charming played out on screen.

I got the sense Jensen looked for a way to deliver that line inoffensively. His little look to Cas when saying it seemed to suggest irony, but yeah, pretty much all the whore talk was major fail. Saying it more doesn't make it less offensive.

I agree with you completely, but after a Kripke interview, Dean's meet up with Lisa gave me pause.

Yep. It rings more true to me than Lisa did. Ash did say it was rare, yet Dean found Sam pretty easily.

I do not want Ben to be Dean's. Off in fanfic world (in fanfics I will not read) he can live with her and raise the kid, but canon offspring? Ick, no. I also do not want Dean to believe Ben is his.

As good as Dean is with kids, I don't see Ben as his son. I prefer to believe that Sam is the only child he will ever raise.

Because books.

I prefer to believe that Sam is the only child he will ever raise.

Okay, that breaks me hard. HARD. Boys. Oh, boys.

Uh, yeah, that.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I feel kinda lonely in my parsing of this episode.

I'm with you.

I also do not want Dean to believe Ben is his.

Until this part. I don't know what Dean believes, but he sure has been harping on deadbeat dads a lot. That seems like the reason for the visit to Lisa to me.

I prefer to believe that Sam is the only child he will ever raise.

I do like this sentiment though.
