Also, possibly high school was a good place to stash Dean to keep him out of ... well, out of as much trouble as possible. Just think of the trouble he could get into hanging around the motel, HBO, magic fingers, and all!

But Amanda's take-down of Dean in the hallway was just a little anvilicious and unlikely.
And yet, I still found it kind of awesome.
I'm with Plei on this one. Even though I don't buy a high school girl being that self aware and perceptive in the circumstances, it was awesome enough to overcome that, and it wouldn't be SHOW without at least a couple of anvils.
I think my biggest criticism of the way a scene was played was the bus. None of those kids, or the coach, decided to get off and see what the hell was happening? None of them even crowded to one side to look out the windows? No shouting? That seemed pretty unlikely to me on rewatch.
Otherwise, I am in love with the way-to-perfect Mr. Wyatt. And want to hug both Dean and Sam, as per usual.
Well, with Amanda they kind of foreshadowed her lack of ease about Dean's situation in the scene where he's talking about living in the motel without his dad. So, clearly this was something that she'd been chewing on for a while.
I really liked that scene in the closet. It was not what I was expecting.

Yeah, I was thinking about that this morning. There should have been a mob of kids yelling and getting into the mix, and freaking out at the GUNSHOTS.
We can assume those were salt rounds, right? How did the Winchesters leave the scene? Wouldn't they have been reported to the cops by the kids? That whole thing seemed really kind of messy to me, even more so than usual, because of the number of witnesses.
I'm also left a little uncomfortable about wassername, Amanda? She killed someone and it wasn't her fault and she's left in an insane asylum and it seems even more unfair than usual.
Also, why did Sam just lay there and let the possessed!football player whale on him? What was the point of that? He could have defended himself, or something.

My only explanation for that was him keeping "Dirk" occupied while Dean found the hair.
Handwavium! It's the new black.

Distraction for Dean + overly-developed guilt complex.
