I thought Brock Kelly looked close enough, but after the first scene, his voice was utterly wrong, something about the accent, which read to me as too New York rather than Kansas or Texas. Also his facial mannerisms were off.
I liked the ep, not least because we got something new at the end, and the boys' character moments were better interwoven into the plot.
But Amanda's take-down of Dean in the hallway was just a little anvilicious and unlikely.
Mostly, I'm happy they didn't demonize John any more than they have already.

Also, hopefully this satisfied those that were wanting more Sam. They certainly got their Sam heavy episode. Which was enjoyable because Colin Ford is just so darn good. Jared really sold the ending too. He was so trying to believe what he was saying.
I got to the point where I saw Brock Kelly as a young Dean. Even his outbursts really were in character because current Dean is regularly SO inappropriate.
I have slept on it, and I still have issues with Dean's age.
I think I'm just gonna have to handwave it, though.
oh, show! I did love the young Sam - he was good and could actually have passed for a young JP (he has the jaw for it). And that fight scene ... obviously, he'd had some training from John. And the other kid was just big and strong enough to push the other kids around, without much real fighting.
Eh, in 1997 he'd have been 18 going on 19, but he quite probably didn't start kindergarden on time (less than a year after Mary's death) or managed to miss enough school in the between times to be held back a year.
My dim recollection is that it was not all that uncommon to see 18+ seniors at the start of the year.
Also, possibly high school was a good place to stash Dean to keep him out of ... well, out of as much trouble as possible. Just think of the trouble he could get into hanging around the motel, HBO, magic fingers, and all!

I'm with Plei on this one. Even though I don't buy a high school girl being that self aware and perceptive in the circumstances, it was awesome enough to overcome that, and it wouldn't be SHOW without at least a couple of anvils.
