Joyce: You don't think it's too obvious? I think I look like I have a cat on my head. Buffy: But a very well groomed cat. Joyce: Well that's a comfort.

But I bet Sammy remembers each and every one.

Let's see if I can remember the ones they show...dude in the Mystery Spot shooting Dean, car, fighting over the axe, choking, electrocuted, slipping in the shower, piano (or whatever fell on him), dog, and taco. Plus the guy shooting him on Wednesday.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think as far as experiencing deaths of his brother, Sam will win, since he actually went through all of Mystery Spot, but I'm torn on how to count Dean's death on those--I think Sam said something like 100 Tuesdays, and then he'd lost count. But were they all a trick? Was the last one, maybe, real?

Sam dies...how many times?

  • AHBL
  • Wishful Thinking
  • The Song Remains The Same
  • maybe Dark Side of the Moon

Dean has

  • In My Time of Dying (does that count? or just close?)
  • Mystery Spot??
  • No Rest For The Wicked
  • maybe Dark Side of the Moon

I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff

Supernaturalwiki informs me that Sam also died in Sympathy For The Devil. It only counts one death for Dean.

Because books.

Does Faith count for Dean?

I feel like there's more for Sam, too.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Yes, I think Dean wins on numbers because Mystery Spot.

•In My Time of Dying (does that count? or just close?)

That was just close and because he pulls so far ahead in Mystery Spot, I don't count close. eta: I'm a bad fan. I misremembered In my time of Dying. I'd count it.

I think the trickster deaths count individually because the deaths were real and then the trick was the reset so that Sam had to live everything over again. Like the deaths that trickster caused in Tall Tales, these would have been permanent if he had become bored and abandoned the game/lesson.

I didn't count Faith--did he actually flatline?

For my personal count I'm only going to go with the last one for Mystery Spot. I can't quite justify it.

The End. Real future? We have a Dean death there.

Ohhh, that is a good one. One that Dean remembers and Sam doesn't. Well, not beyond what Dean told him.

I still remember thinking that Sammy was going to have some serious PTSD to deal with in the weeks following that. Do we ever see any?

I need to rewatch The End. Tragic.

His PTSD was a casualty of the writers strike.

I wonder what sort of PTSD you get from seeing yourself be a cold dick and then die.

Beverly was saying the writer's strike short-shrifted us on that one. Am bitter.
