Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?

[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

the way JA takes the gun away from the other guy in the fight, releases the clip, and tosses it away was so natural, like he's being doing it forever

That's exactly the visual that's freshest in my mind, although I continually love how they clear rooms. Having been taught how to do that, it makes me wibbly to see it done with authority, and they both do it really well.

And there is, of course, the weapons toss in...Hookman? Which I still maintain is a really dumb thing to do, but that doesn't make it not hot.

This is so representative of much of the boys actions.

Because books.

Clear rooms? Like, knock out/take down everyone?

I think I mentioned a long time ago, I was at a writer's meeting where we had a cop come in to talk about self-defense and fighting, etc., for writing purposes. He corkscrewed me into the floor as a demo, and half of me was completely overwhelmed and the other half was PISSED OFF that some guy could take me down like that (despite the fact that he was roughly twice my size).

I have also always wanted to learn how to properly handle, aim, and fire a gun.

Obvs you probably don't have similar items laying around but could Colin show you some things just for kicks?

I don't think Colin's all that up on it anymore, actually. Sheriff Jack Carter doesn't use weapons that much. I used to hit up the shooting range myself, but with the migraines not so much. I do make him tell me tales, though. I will pump him shamelessly--I could ask actual police officers I know, but this way I lose fewer cool points fangirling the FBI.

Not even all that--just how to go in with a partner, armed, and make sure there are no threats in it. It's all in the eyes, and the feet, and how you hold the gun. They're very good, JA especially.

Oh, that kind of clear! Got it.

One of my favorite scenes for that was in The Magnificent Seven, when they go into the house where the family starved to death with Bobby. It's all hand motions and eyebrow communication.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

That was a good one.

Darn it Amy, if it wasn't for this obnoxious separation by land mass, we could take shooting lessons together or something.

eta:

And suddenly I'm back to day dreaming about dating a cop, however none of the ones that I have known have been very good boyfriend material.

Because books.

Oh, that would be awesome. It's definitely something I want to treat myself to one day. Everyone else can take their sky diving and bungee jumping, thank you very much. I'll stay on the ground with a good firearm.

My FiL was actually a shooting instructor during the Korean War, but he can barely see the TV anymore, so that's not really a possibility.

More lists to make when the book is done (and probably to soothe the sting of hiatus when it comes):

I also enjoyed Sam's fight with the baddie with the knife in LDC. Made me miss krav something awful too, fighting unarmed against a knife. Though, really, being his size would be nice. I've got a decent wingspan for my size, but that's *my* size. Not mutant boy over there.
