Special push ups.
I don't think the average viewer would really see the anvils except in retrospect. I have a work friend or two who are average viewers of the shows I watch, and they are anvil missers. The don't watch it near as close as a lot of us.
I actually love getting MotW episodes as a break from doom doom doom angel doom doom gloom. Makes the arc eps feel heavier.
I wasn't able to watch the Show because there was something else I had to focus on, but I had it on in the background. (So I know I missed a lot of stuff that I'll be able to catch once I watch the tape.) But just listening to it... was anyone else pinged by how often the words "douche" and "douchebag" were used? (Yes, I know it's in the title.) It was so obviously overused that I began to think that they just got approval from the network censors to use a slghtly naughty word, and were tossing it in there as often as possible.
Okay, I wanted to add my comment, but not twice.
The brotherly anvils thing did bug, but I really enjoyed the show up until that last scene with BB in the bar. (Seriously dudes, point out to him that you're thanking him for saving your lives, and preventing other innocent people from dying needlessly. That's not a minor thing.)
Given the demon-killing spell Ruby proposed in Jus in Bello, I suspect whatever she's trying to get Sam to do involves human sacrifice. And I'd still love it if this all turns out to be a plot by Lilith to corrupt him (and maybe make him the perfectly-prepared host body for a certain Big Bad we've been building up to all year...)

Yeah, I wondered why they didn't say that too.

That is a strong possibility. That, or watching a marathon of
The Simple Life.
I can't imagine that Sam is nearly that far gone to sign on for that. I mean, whatever it is I'm sure it's not pretty, but human sacrifice?
I agree human sacrifice is a strong possibility, or maybe (less subtly) Sam becoming immortal (and having to pay a price for it).
I doubt human sacrifice. They really haven't built up the background to show Sam going for that just to "muscle up". Still barely possible. But watching the Simple Life? No way Sam is that far gone.
I doubt human sacrifice because Ruby implied that it was something he'd done before and would need to continue to do to stay sharp.

She just wants him to smex her up again.
