I'm not saying that I want anything bad to happen to Castiel. I like him too. But I really feared he was in danger of being overused and I am relieved TPTB had him sit out a few episodes. He's a super-spicy condiment that needs to be sprinkled sparingly so as not to wear out his impact. (Much as Spike did, to point out one obvious example.)
I fear Bobby is a done deal. They've been killing off every other touchstone the boys have had in their lives, and I think Bobby is the last person they can cling to. If the show is going to go for another season (?maybe? do we know yet? and the Winchesters are going to come back for it (I'm assuming) then the writers will need to off someone else, so who's left? ...drumroll... Bobby. Or maybe Metallicar will stay dead this time.
Show's coming back for a season 6. I guess they could decide they only need one other recurring/regular character and make that Castiel since Misha's such a fan frenzy-maker. But more people must like Bobby than Castiel. Castiel's an interloper. He's cool, but he's Angel-come-lately.
Man, I wanted to be late into work so I could catch all of the season finale in one sitting. But I'm being a responsible, relatively non-obsessive grownup.
And just posting about it this time.
There's some debate in this episode, as far as I got, as to whether Meg's a demon or a possessed human. What's the tally of straight up non-exorcisable demons that we've seen? Also, how could Bobby tell by looking that she was a possessed woman and not 100% demon?

Has that been ultrasuperconfirmed yet?
Has that been ultrasuperconfirmed yet?
Not ultrasuper, I guess. I've seen it in a number of places, but I haven't been able to tell if they've all sourced it from a common cite.

I took it to mean that the boys didn't know until then that every demon needs a vessel, a human meat suit, and that (Ruby's little finagling aside later on) the human is going to be trapped in there.
Yeah, all the pages seem to say it's happening, but it hasn't been officially reported in a trade mag, I don't think. Or even
E!

I can't remember who said that she was either a demon or a demon possessing a human, or who was around when it was said. Hmm. I might just have to rewatch the first half of the episode.
But Bobby saying "can't you tell?" made it sound like there was some distinction to be made.

Yeah, on googling again, the most I can see with a studio name on it is "Kripke warming." We'll see.

Yeah, I'm not sure if that was one of those "Sam has been at Stanford for two years" thoughtless mistakes or what. Because as far as I can tell, there are no demons in the SPN universe who *don't* have to be in a meat suit, unlike the Buffy or Angel 'verses.
The little child demon in Cold Oak didn't require a meatsuit. But there are apparently demons, and there are demons, and if you think about it too hard, you turn into that German dude, and then ghosts kill you and stuff.
Was that a demon? I guess I just always saw "ghost" there. But you're right.
Kripke! Consistency! UR DOIN IT RONG.
