Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, how cute was that? I don't have the DVDs, but now I want them. Sam is all short and stuff. Well, not fully Gigantor yet.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Was it Wendigo yesterday? Our guide said that was it. Lots of people scoff at Wendigo, but it's become one of my favorite S1 eps. You get your first look at geek Sam who knows his lore, you get "Saving people, hunting things, the family business". You get Dean snark and smarm, plus genuine concern for the civilians, you get Sam being protective of the civilians, you get Sam being frantic to find Dean, and you get that great shot of Sam lifting Dean down from the meathook that my LJ icon closeup of their hands is taken from.

Yes, the monster was cheesy and so were the pyrotechnic effects, but those things got better. What Wendigo brought was a clearer idea of who these guys were, personality-wise and history-wise, and what they were about. I like Wendigo.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Think that's this morning. Yesterday was the pilot.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I noticed that Finn from Glee was one of the camping buddies.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In the pilot I noticed that Sam's zombie drinking buddy was Barney from M:I's grandson, and Sarah Shahi played the woman in white. It's totally going to be like this all the way through, I'm thinking, peaking with Aldis Hodge.

Because books.

There are definitely a lot of opportunities for spot-the-guest-star. And if you watched Harper's Island, it's awesome for playing Six Degrees.

Dean as the authoritative older brother and Sam as the snarly, resentful younger brother is so in your face in Dead in the Water. I had forgotten.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

But then you get Dean connecting with Lucas--first watch of DitW is what hooked me on the series, because of the snarly and the authoratative, and then Sam zapping Dean with, "Name five children you even know." Which was a level of affection and I know you better than you know yourself even as it was a little brother put-down. And Dean didn't protest. It was a moment of equality for me, a tiny glimpse at how their relationship worked. You had the Dean revelatory "I saw something bad happen to my mom, and I didn't want to talk for a while, either," which is the only canon we have for a zillion fanfics in which wee!Dean is mute for weeks/months/ever. And we have Sam lurking outside Lucas' door, learning something he never knew about the brother he knows everything about.

Plus, of course, Manners' first directorial episode, and the money shot.

Gods, I love Season one!

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

You had the Dean revelatory "I saw something bad happen to my mom, and I didn't want to talk for a while, either," which is the only canon we have for a zillion fanfics in which wee!Dean is mute for weeks/months/ever.

Well, it's mentioned in the official grey canon stuff. [link]

So not the ONLY canon!

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So I hear they changed the music in syndication? What's up with that!
