Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

THIS!
Can anyone help me parse this bit from a fic?
“Jo is on about us showing affection again,” Dean grumbled and pulled the chip from Castiel’s hand, Damn, for a women being against Dean glanced back at him and the Cas.
And I guess I never hit post on the question I was pondering--I'm getting into SPN arguments on IO9, as is my wont. Okay--two questions:
1) In the absence of reporting that it was the end of Kripke's five year plan (and the name of the episode), would you think that Swan Song was a good closing point for the series--both in terms of wrapping things up, and assuming that nothing since then has been worth it?
2) What would have happened to the free-Luci plan if Dean hadn't resurrected Sam? How does the elimination battle at Cold Oak jibe with the destiny that the angels and demons were working towards? It seems like a pretty big variable in a non-free will kind of a plan.
The plan continued apace despite Dean being dead and in Hell for 40 subjective years, so I assume raising Sam from the dead would have been no biggie. Maybe the angels would have resurrected him too for the showcase showdown?
Death: Not an ending, just a change in direction.
But Dean needed to go to Hell, otherwise no Righteous Man. It's not a despite, it's a because.
Why put Sam in a duel to the death if you need him to be the one that lives?
For one, it got Dean in the position of taking over as The Righteous Man after John had stonewalled them for a century of hell-time.
Absolutely--but Jake was the one who won the Boy King mantle, so what was the point of all that? Who would have been his Righteous Man? His sister? They're related to Abel and Cain too? Then why wasn't Nick related to them, instead of the Winchesters (I just heard Kripke confirmed the link)--but that makes it grey canon at best? They should have been a better bloodline.
I just had the most random trivial thought:
If Cas was looking for a good Cupid's Bow, he should have stolen Dean's lips. They're classic.
Also, that's gross.
Some random feelings from the longfic I just tastelessly devoured:
- Tag your hate. Making Mary worse than John is technically interesting, but meanly executed. And why is Lisa evil (a witch fucking Crowley and Alistair) when Samuel Campbell is on the side of good?
- Count your OCs' screen time. So many new characters when you could easily replace half of them with canon characters. You're not as interesting as you thought.
- Spell, even grammar check. Radical, huh?
Just for those who might have missed it, Happy Supernatural Holidays! from the set.
