Buffy: You tossed that vamp like he was a... little teeny vamp. Riley: You wanna go again? C'mon. I bet this place is just teeming with aerodynamic vampires.

Because books.

On the other hand, Maggie Stiefvater (who I have a total author crush on) is live-tweeting SPN right now -- episodes 1.22 and 2.1. Very amusing. Her names for Sam and Dean so far are Tender and Thug.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Well, that's definitely a SPN spinoff. Bloodlines=SPN+Gossip Girl/Vampire Diaries.

There is nothing about the show itself that pulls me in other than the kid. Not the fridging of Jess or the family heritage Men Of Letters and especially not the last minute phone call from John.

All of the monsters are boring, and imagine how much more bitch invective we'll hear tossed around now...

Her names for Sam and Dean so far are Tender and Thug.

I got them mixed up.

Unless Dean and Sam will be making a guest appearance, I won't be planning to watch the spinoff. By about 20 minutes in I was lost in all the new characters, and even worse I didn't care to remember who they all were anyway.

What Morgana said.

So not interested.

There are really only two new leads, and one is a short black guy, so that should be less confusing for people than the original Supernatural.

The dynamic in SPN is the family bond, and the chemistry between Ackles/Padelecki is the heart of the show. If TV required a show about feuds for power of a city between various supernats, and the non-supers that try to keep the peace, there are about 2 dozen book series I can name that are more intriguing and exciting than what was shown.

Because books.

It's Supernatural's "The Originals." Or something. But next to stuff like The 100, even, it looks pretty uninspired.

Plus, the mythology is completely wrong. Shapeshifters weren't able to do those things in the SPN universe, so why here? And where were these five families while Dick Roman was in power?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

The feuding monster families reminds me of the feuding vampire families in The Kindred. But Kindred did it so much better. This effort (and I use the term reluctantly) is a waste of attractive people.

It's not for us, it's clear. They wanted a show with money and Relationships, so this looks like that. I wish them well, but will miss Dabb.
