ita, this might fit the bill for you Angel Baby
The Winchesters find out that angels do not reproduce the same way as humans. Castiel explains that his vessel is not pregnant, his grace is simply splitting to make a new angel. But, even the best laid plans sometimes go awry, especially when Heaven is involved. When the Apocalypse is nigh and Castiel is running out of grace, Dean takes it upon himself to take care of Castiel and the new angel and ends up learning how much the angel means to him. Sam on the other hand, must make amends with his own angel.
It's a WIP, but the first chapter was written reasonably well. I don't like waiting for chapters to come out, so I tend to wait until works are finished, but this is one that I'm watching because it seemed interesting.
Ooh! Have they stated the reason for him budding yet?
(I shouldn't laugh at the title, but haven't we all been there? Where just grabbing a bullet point of the thoughts in your head about the piece is the best we can do for a title? (And we can't find a halfway decent song lyric eaither))
Sam on the other hand, must make amends with his own angel.
That right there is a giant flashing "Danger, Will Robinson, DANGER!" sign to me.

You're right--I didn't get that far, being happy with the asexual reproduction and subsequent glee. I grit my teeth every time Castiel is referred to as Dean's angel (and Dean as Cas' human or hunter, but that's considerably less common). But...amends...Sam? He's spent fifteen more minutes with Gabe than Dean has? And he was thinking of Dean the whole time? (I'm not actually figuring in Hammer Of The Gods, because I don't remember it, but still--they were hardly making out in the janitor's closet).
Gabriel does not need to be apologised to. Not from canon. And spare *me* from "pair the spare" gyrations. I do wonder about this craving for symmetry.
I honestly think it's rooted in whatever author being a big fan of one character and resenting any unique plot points the show gives to the other. Giving Sam his own angel who thinks he's the extra-specialest person in the whole world is the most frequent manifestation I've seen, but I've also run across stories giving Dean hell-based powers and attendant destiny to make up for the Michael's Sword thing fizzling out.
I saw someone on Twitter (Tumblr?) talking about set photos, but I don't see any posted anywhere. That I looked, anyway. Sniff.
Awesome, intense Sam video by Loki.
So this spin-off...(that's not a spoiler, is it?) -- what do you think it will be? I've read about the location, but I wonder if Charlie will get her own show/be part of an emsemble cast.
DH thinks, based on a tweet Christian Kane made that after Leverage ended, SPN was trying to get a role for him, that CK will be on the spin-off. Which, hey, I would be DOWN with that.
I personally would watch Charlie fight monsters, and be a cute bad-ass lesbian geek girl and Christian Kane be...Christian Kane.
I am still giving the idea of a spin-off a serious side-eye, though...

Omg. Here's what I want. Charlie takes over Ghostfacers and brings in CK as muscle.
I'm not sure I want a Charlie show, and I definitely don't want a Christian Kane show, much as I love him. He's too ... something for Supernatural, even if it's not really Supernatural.
I think they said they were introducing completely new characters, so I'm not sure we've met the pilot people yet.
