Could we quote fic and stuff? Not that there's a whole lot that paints John favorably, but I don't know how to make graphics.
Wait, that won't work, we're looking for canon. Duh.
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

No! Any fic you find that does John well, I'll link to (a John-centric blurb would be nice, but that's asking a lot, I dig). Any good John art, I'll reblog or post. Any fanwork, canon, meta dissection, hot picture of JDM or Matt, ANYTHING. Go Sir nuts.
Go Sir nuts. I like that. Awesome.
And I read that as "Go Sir's nuts". Which....yeah.
Well, also very true. They did help spawn Sam and Dean after all.
Also responsible for Adam, so not batting 1000.
Well, Adam wasn't a villain. He was just a surprise, and that could have been either John or his mother's fault.
Since John knew about him, his being a surprise to Sam & Dean was definitely John's fault. His being a surprise could have been *additionally* the mother's fault, but was definitely John's.
Not being a Winchester isn't a crime. It's just an unfortunate situation in which we all find ourselves. Why judge Adam more harshly for it?
I don't understand people harshing on Adam for not being a Winchester either. (Actually, since he was John's kid he WAS a Winchester. He just never got the training, but still had the target on his back.) I do think John should have told the boys, including Adam. Even if he could not have told the whole truth, ghosts and demons and monsters are hard to prove, he could said there were bad guys after me who might come after you and given both Adam and Mom some training. If there was a convenient ghost or monster in the area to demonstrate the reality of the supernatural, then he could have told them the whole truth - which would have been better.
