Because books.

Well, also very true. They did help spawn Sam and Dean after all.

Also responsible for Adam, so not batting 1000.

Well, Adam wasn't a villain. He was just a surprise, and that could have been either John or his mother's fault.

Since John knew about him, his being a surprise to Sam & Dean was definitely John's fault. His being a surprise could have been *additionally* the mother's fault, but was definitely John's.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Not being a Winchester isn't a crime. It's just an unfortunate situation in which we all find ourselves. Why judge Adam more harshly for it?

I don't understand people harshing on Adam for not being a Winchester either. (Actually, since he was John's kid he WAS a Winchester. He just never got the training, but still had the target on his back.) I do think John should have told the boys, including Adam. Even if he could not have told the whole truth, ghosts and demons and monsters are hard to prove, he could said there were bad guys after me who might come after you and given both Adam and Mom some training. If there was a convenient ghost or monster in the area to demonstrate the reality of the supernatural, then he could have told them the whole truth - which would have been better.

Also, we were just discussing Sir's nuts, and the progeny thereof, not whether they should exist or not. And John telling Sam and Dean doesn't have anything to do with it.

Well Matt kind of harshed on Adam. And I don't think there is really anything to hold against Adam. And to the extent Adam could not handle monsters, it sure as heck was not his fault - as I said, target on back, no training.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Argh. I'm debating whether or not to promote my own John-centric fic. It's received good feedback, but it's hella long, so maybe not Tumblr-conducive.

You have a summary, right? Gimme the summary and a link and I'll put it up when I get home.

Trust me--I can't work out if *I* should post my own John-centric art. And you guys are the only ones who'd know it's me. You submitting your stuff to me is totally how the system should work.

Or, you know, Amy could "stumble" across it...these things do happen.
