Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

And Sam engaging in earnest discourse. Indeed.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know anything about PBS, but I will never not think Dean+Oprah=comedy gold.

I am trying, in another window, to write down everything I ship. It's clear that if there is such a thing as a "shipper", I'm clearly one of them. Big ol' shipper ho. Someone asked who I shipped, and I'm so disappointed with the list of about 15 couples I tossed off, because it looks like I don't care about Captain Jack/Ianto, and that's clearly untrue...fuck--I didn't even remember Sam/Brady.

Because books.

I'd have to think about who I ship. I only do it with some shows. Bobby/Sheriff Mills was a favorite sort of secondary one for SPN. But I also draw a line between who I think would have hot sex and who's in lurvvvve, in my head. (For example: Sam/Brady? Hot sex, maybe once or twice. Dean/Cas? Lurvvvve.) Meaning that I don't really consider it ship unless it's the latter. For me, anyway.

I was also going through criteria of what makes a non-canon ship interesting to me (I really don't know what sets a canon ship apart from the rest), and that's helping me file--like, I'd say I ship Sam/Brady, because there's a place I'd put it in my version of canon, not just in my wish fulfillment, if that makes sense. It's a dodgy line, and no one will draw exactly the same one I do across all the shows and movies, but, say-Stiles/Derek? Fun to think about, kinda sexy, but nothing to do with my head canon at all, so I wouldn't say I ship it. Same with White Collar's OT4, but OT3? Definitely.

Because books.

There's an OT4?

With Mozzie.

Because books.

Ah. Yeah, not my ship at all.

I think I fail at this game, because as far as I can tell (with the exception of, say, White Collar's OT3, or general slash), I tend to ship canon relationships. Buffy/Angel. Scully/Mulder. Parker/Hardison. Rachel/Ross. Fred/Wesley.

How weird.

Well, "general slash" does cover most shipping activity out there, so that's not failing at all. Most of the ones I thought of when prompted were canon relationships--no non canon het, one femslash (from Warehouse 13, but that's one of those writer's ships), and your bog standard stuff--Dean/Cas, Mulder/Krycek, Aragorn/Legolas. If I'd been thinking I'd have remembered Angel/Spike (validated), Gunn/Wes (a nice place to vacation), Captain America/Iron Man, and there is also the wonderful delights of Jack/Stark and Jensen/Cougar.

But Angel/Spike isn't something I wanted to see more of, you know? I want the ship that I think should sail.

And I don't see Mulder/Krycek at all, but that might be just the way I saw it at the time (i.e. without slash goggles). Now, Mulder/Skinner I maybe could have bought if I had ... known what slash was at the time.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Mulder/Krycek was, for me, textbook Foe Yay! And the writers went as far as a kiss, so even though Chris Carter proved to be not in control of the beast he raised, at least he gave us that...and the red speedo.

And I was always down for flashback Angel/Spike. So even though canon only handed us one instance, it was way more than I thought we'd ever get. Just...the dysfunction with the four of those guys, paired with the sensation-driven id-wanking nature of the vampire demon--the idea that they never had sex struck me as disappointing. I didn't expect to be tossed that bone (NPI), but it does fit my general read of the mythos better if they do indulge.

Gunn/Wes, Jensen/Cougar, and Stark/Rogers have the lightly bickery married couple thing--Aragorn/Legolas have that with a side of "no one else here understands us", and Jack/Stark is an inverted Foe Yay, where they might never admit they respect each other and make a good team until it's too late. I will cheerfully slash upon that foundation too.

I need to copy this post into my notes...
