Supernatural 2: Why is it our job to save everybody?
[NAFDA]. This is where we talk about the CW series Supernatural! Anything that's aired in the US on TV (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though — if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Aw, excellent.
And yes, I just saw his new "outfit". Snerk.
Season 8, yay.
I was just having a conversation on FB about the Wheadon canon, so I saw "Season 8" and thought "Buffy Comic." Which then brought up a whole bunch of interesting comparisons and contrasts.
The S8 premiere is going to be episode 150, too. Pretty cool.
I want to be watching SPN when Jensen is 50.
This is like realizing that, one day, your parents will die.
Okay, maybe not that devastating. But, still.
I haven't obsessed like this over a show for a while, if ever (I've obsessed, but not to the point where I found it impossible to watch other TV shows).
Excited about season 8!
Onwards to the undiscovered country.
Have y'all seen this? Can you see that link?
And also? If you're on Twitter, colinfordactor has new photos up. Little Sam? NSM.
That's hilarious.
Help me get excited for Season 8. I'm trying to think of a story that they haven't told or one that will still have emotional resonance in the re-telling and I'm just coming up blank. I like the individual episodes (some more than others) but there needs to an underlying narrative that takes me from the first episode to the last in each season and everything I think of that would move the story forward has already been done (e.g death of major character, resurrection of major character, death of secondary beloved characters, long-lost sibling, unknown offspring, betrayal by major character, major illness of character, destruction and rebuilding of family). I'm almost to the point where even the fact that they are very, very pretty doesn't entice me to watch for another year. For those of you who are more creative than I, what story arc would you like to see next year? Where do you think they can go that would make us want to go along for the ride?
I can think of a few things they could do -- Dean going darkside, Sam falling in love, another member of the extended hunting family coming forward -- but I don't really want to? I have to do that in my work -- I don't want to do it proactively for a show I have no control over. I'm happy to let the writers come up with something, and I'll either like it or I won't, but I'll definitely watch. I'm too fond of the characters not to, and honestly I'm really pleased the cast and crew have another year of work to look forward to.
For me, I think, the fact that the writers have kept the focus on Sam and Dean is what makes it work for me. Whereas S7 Buffy felt so far from the original premise of the series, I found it really hard to enjoy. As long as Sam and Dean are doing what they do, I'm going to tune in.
I'm not entirely rational about the show, though, as some of you have probably surmised.
