They should film that story and show it every Christmas.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Ellen sent a message to Dean, dummy. Why didn't one of his parents do that instead?

I'd wondered that as well. It's bothersome that she, and not they, would be the one to contact Dean--unless there's still something that's going to be done with the fact that Ash couldn't track them down in Heaven.

Also, from a narrative perspective, If the psychic gave Dean a message from John or Mary, I think Dean might well end up shoving him against a wall and demanding that the psychic get back in touch with them right now.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Also, as someone who started SPN late, I always got the impression that Ellen was a lot better at communication definitely than John, and probably than Mary.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't see that we've been given any evidence that she'd be better than Mary. Or less willful than either of them--Mary stuck around and saved Sam in Home, and John climbed out of Hell and saved Dean in All Hell Breaks Loose. Those WInchesters don't fuck around.

I can get a life any time now.

eta: John might not think to tell Dean to communicate, but I don't see why Mary wouldn't. And either of them would breach time and space for their sons.

eta²: We do see Sam's car! That looks like a fairly late model SUV. Who the fuck is he related to?

Because books.

Crap. I was just reminded I need a title for my Reversebang story, which I have to post tomorrow. Um.

I just read a story that was supposed to be really sad, but I think the part that left me the saddest was where they insisted Dean couldn't make it to middle class on his own. With the distinct implication Sam could, if not upper middle. Fuck you. Dean's a clever guy. He doesn't have to JUST WORK IN SOMEONE ELSE'S GARAGE. Why do people keep doing that? Also, why can't he be a middle class mechanic? Can't you work with your hands and be middle class? Fuck you again.

::grumps and sits in the Smart Dean corner::

Yes, Amy, you do. No, Amy, I suck at that.

Because books.

If you're a skilled mechanic with a good clientele, you can be way more than middle class, for sure.

I thought of one! It's a Panic at the Disco lyric, but I DON'T CARE. Reversebang!Dean wouldn't mind.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I DON'T CARE

Technically that's an FOB title.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

If you're a skilled mechanic with a good clientele, you can be way more than middle class, for sure.

Middle class income, but there are still class divides between blue collar and white collar work. Our unspoken class system in the US is a complex clusterfuck.

Amy - Nov 08, 2011 4:28:29 pm PST #22709 of 30002
Because books.

Very true. But I'd happily have the income (and not ALL mechanics earn that well, obvs) and be considered blue collar. I think my neighbors two blocks over consider us blue-collar-adjacent, because my block definitely skews that way.

Which is fine with me, although I guess I'd feel different if I owned (property values blah blah).

JDM was on Craig Ferguson last night, and they discussed bifocals, babies, sex while babies are napping, and boners. I can die happy now.
